Hellloooo transfer students, and welcome to UVA!!! Congratulations on taking the courage to transfer to a new school and getting ready to embark on a new journey! We’re so excited that you’re here! My name is Erik Pereira and I am a rising fourth-year student from Alexandria, VA (shout out to the DMV). I transferred from George Mason University located in Northern Virginia. I am majoring in statistics and I am planning on minoring in politics. On Grounds, I am a part of the Hispanic/Latinx Peer Mentoring Program. Off Grounds, I work part-time. Most of the time you can catch me in Clem or studying in Thorton (even though I’m not a SEAS major lol). If I am not there, you can probably catch me at the Chipotle off Barracks Road or attending some event on grounds where there’s free food. Additionally, I love to work out so you can probably also catch me at the Aquatic & Fitness Center or at North Grounds Gym. Even though acclimating to a whole new school and environment will seem daunting at first, I promise you that you will find your place here. Throughout your transition, I will be there for you if you ever want to rant about a class, figure out what organizations to join, or honestly even just go eat together or attend an event together. In the meantime, be very proud that you’re here and take it one step at a time.

Hello and welcome to The University! My name is Matt Hale, I am a rising fourth-year majoring in media studies, and I am from Richmond, VA. I transferred to UVA after earning my Associate’s in social science from enrolling in courses at both J Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond and Northern Virginia Community College in Loudoun County. I participate in activities with the drama department, occasionally play club dodgeball, host a weekly entertainment podcast (hit me up if you want to come on, I’m always open to more guests), am a member of the Transfer Advisory Board on the Orientation & New Student Programs Committee, and I can often be found hanging out with people that I vibe with. I am always down to talk about UVA sports, the Boston Red Sox, strange philosophical ideas, or unpopular opinions about movies or TV shows. Transferring can be tough, but the wonderful group of TSPAs can be an awesome resource if you have any questions, concerns, issues, or just need someone to vibe with. Always feel free to reach out to me if you’re in need of support, need someone to go to a game with, or if you just want to talk about basically anything. I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can and I am excited to help introduce you to your new home this fall when you arrive on Grounds. Wahoowa!

Hello everyone, and congratulations on being accepted into UVA!!! I am a Charlottesville native and am very well-acquainted with the area. I spent my first year at James Madison University before attending Piedmont Virginia Community College, which propelled me to UVA. I have a passion for international diplomacy and am studying foreign affairs within the College of Arts and Sciences. As a transfer student, I understand the rigor and dedication it takes to become a part of our wonderful community. Switching schools in the middle of your undergraduate careers can seem daunting at times, but I promise that if you apply yourselves your college experiences will exceed all of your expectations. On Grounds, I am a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and chairman of recruitment for the Transfer Advisory Board, an organization which helps meet the academic and social needs of transfer students after orientation. My goal is to make sure every transfer student's transition into the UVA community is as seamless and rewarding as my own. I am very excited to meet all of you so please feel free to reach out to me about any questions you may have.

Heyo! Congratulations and welcome to UVA! My name is Robby Phillips, and I'm a fourth-year majoring in biochemistry. I grew up in good ol' Shenco Virginia, where I graduated with my associates of science from high school and transferred into UVA as a third-year. I would say my favorite parts about UVA are being active in UVA's gyms and playing the many sports offered at the University, like racquetball and ultimate frisbee. Of course, UVA is a rigorous university so if you have questions about UVA science, research, internships, or any other focus of study, feel free to reach out. If grades aren't what's on your mind, I'm a coregroup leader in Chi Alpha and a UVA Outdoors Club guide/leader, so if there's anything you want to know about hiking, mountain biking, or any fun things to do in Charlottesville, also feel free to ask! Lastly, my transition to UVA was an interesting one because of overlapping times with my Army medic training, so if you have "what if" questions about missing orientation or balancing outside work with school, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to show you the ropes of UVA and get you hitting the ground running toward your dreams, so buckle up and prepare for a fun experience here at UVA! Go Hoos!
