Complete Student IT Checklist
Complete items on Information Technology Services' Student IT Checklist in order to get started with various technology, including your email, at UVA.
Submit Photo for University ID Card
Submit your photo online so that your University ID may be created. Students living on Grounds won't receive a housing assignment or move-in date unless an ID photo has been submitted.

Retrieve your UID (University ID) number
Your UID number is the nine-digit number that serves as your ID throughout your time at UVA. Assigned to you by the University, it is NOT your Social Security number. You can retrieve your UID number online. To do so, you will need your seven-digit UVA Student Information System (SIS) ID number. This number can be found in the email acknowledging receipt of your application for admission. You will use this number in connection with various enrollment tasks, such as your dining contract and financial aid.
Complete Housing Application
The online Housing Application allows students to apply for on-Grounds housing. This item is optional for incoming transfer students.

Complete Housing Addendum
In order to receive a housing assignment, all students who indicate they will reside in on-Grounds housing in Fall 2020 are required to agree to the COVID-19 policy and a COVID-19 addendum to their housing contract online in the housing portal. The COVID-19 policy includes new student responsibilities and outlines measures to be implemented in on-Grounds housing by Housing & Residence Life.

Arts & Sciences Only: Complete the new Student Information Form
College of Arts & Sciences students are required to submit the Student Information Form.

Arts & Sciences Only: Apply to a Forum
All incoming students in the College of Arts & Sciences complete a general education curriculum in addition to a major while at UVA. The Forums offer a unique, focused approach to general education in the College of Arts & Sciences. Students that wish to apply to a Forum should learn about the program on the Forums website, and submit their preferences by the deadline below.

Arts & Sciences First-Years Only: Request to Change Your General Education Curriculum
All incoming students in the College of Arts & Sciences complete a general education curriculum in addition to a major while at UVA. You will be notified of your general education curriculum on May 22.You may be able to change your general education curriculum by the deadline below, program capacity permitting.

Engineering Only: Register for the Calculus Placement Test
All first-year Engineering students are required to take the Calculus Placement Test during the month of June. To schedule a time to take the placement test, first complete the Calculus Background & Placement Survey no later than Friday, June 12.
If you are a transfer student or if you are enrolled in any other school, you should not take this placement test.
Complete Dining Contract
All first-year students must sign up for the “All Access" plan. Residential college first-years must chose the "All Access” plan that is linked to their specific residential college. First-years who do not sign up will be defaulted into the "All Access" annual plan.
Incoming transfer students and upperclass students can (but are not required to) sign up for any meal plan at any time.

Register with Student Disability Services (as needed)
Students who need to request academic and/or housing accommodations based on a disability or medical condition should register with the Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) as soon as possible. In order to register, please go to the SDAC website, scroll down, click on the “register for services” button, and complete the online form.
Those who need a housing accommodation because of a medical condition should submit the form by June 1.

Add Authorized Users in UVAPay
Your student record is protected -- even from your parents -- by federal law. Because so many students rely on their parents and others for help with their financial aid or student account, we recommend that all students make parents or anyone else helping them with financing college authorized users in UVAPay. It only takes a minute, and your parents and your future self will thank you!

Your Resource Playlist will introduce you to offices, programs, and resources from around the University. These videos include everything from how to conduct research to how to make an appointment with Student Health, where to turn for help with questions and challenges, and everything in between! Take World Language Placement Exams
A world language placement exam is required only for students in the College of Arts & Sciences and Architectural History students in the School of Architecture. For students in other schools, the exam is required only if you choose to take a foreign language class.
French, German, Latin, Persian, and Spanish placement exams should be taken before coming to orientation:
The Italian placement exam may be taken at any time prior to the start of classes.
Language placement exams for other languages will be offered during Wahoo Welcome. Information on language requirements and placement is available on the College of Arts & Sciences World Language Placement Index.
Complete Pre-Entrance Health Form
Students must download and complete the required immunization record by August 1, prior to starting at UVA.

Submit Payment for Tuition and Fees
Enroll in or Submit Proof of Health Insurance
The University requires all students to have health insurance. Students can either enroll in the UVA Aetna Student Health Plan or submit proof of current, comparable health insurance coverage. Learn about participating in Project SERVE, a one-day service opportunity for incoming students.
Sign up for UVA Alerts
You can register to receive text messages regarding emergency situations on Grounds.
You can also download the LiveSafe app to receive both emergency and non-emergency notifications, including UVA Alerts. The app contains dozens of safety resources and features, such as "Report a Tip," which communicates directly to UVA Police, 24/7. The app is free from iTunes or Google Play.
