By the end of Summer Orientation, we hope that all new students have made meaningful connections with other new students, registered for classes, and become better acquainted with Grounds and the resources that are available to them as UVA students.
What is Student Orientation like?
Detailed orientation session schedules will be posted in mid-May. Check-in on day one runs from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Attendees should plan to check out between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. on day two.
In the meantime, the information below can give you an idea of the kind of sessions that you'll attend during Summer Orientation:
Course Advising Workshops
Meet with a dean from your school of enrollment to learn about academic requirements. You'll then have the opportunity to work with Orientation Leaders and faculty advisors to build your fall course schedule.
Student Life at UVA Panel
A panel of Orientation Leaders will facilitate a conversation with new students about what life is really like as a UVA student. Ask us any questions that were not answered during other sessions ... we’re ready for them!
Late Night at the AFC
Join your new classmates and Orientation Leaders for an evening of free food, music, basketball and Zumba. There will be t-shirt giveaways and night hikes too!
