Hi everyone, congrats on transferring and welcome to UVA! My name is Lasata (my nickname is Rae, pronounced ray) and I’m from Ashburn, Virginia. I transferred to UVA from William and Mary in my second year, and I’m currently a third year majoring in Astronomy-Physics and minoring in Data Science. I know Astrophysics is a pretty small major, so if you’re planning to declare, are interested, or just want to talk about space, let me know! For organizations, I’m involved in the Astronomy Club, the Nepali Student Association, and an occultation group. Outside of classes, I love walking around Grounds, visiting the Corner for Kung Fu Tea, Mellow Mushroom, and Got Dumplings, and free form writing. If you are feeling nervous about your transfer experience, I understand this firsthand, but know that you are definitely not alone. You all deserve to be here and call yourself a Hoo!
